An experience can be only the beginning.
We create gatherings for learning, making, watching and sharing; spaces to slow the pace and discover new ways of relating to what surrounds us.
Who we are — our way of seeing
Some experiences stay with us long after they are lived.

02 — Sport
Experiences where movement becomes another way of knowing, observing and relating to what surrounds us.

Nature sets the rhythms, the materials, and the way we relate to what surrounds us.
The table, in turn, takes us somewhere familiar: that moment of sitting down around a good meal, talking without hurry, sharing, and letting the gathering carry on.
At Umbral we value both of these deeply, and we look for them to be present, in one form or another, in every experience.

An experience that approaches clay through making: getting to know the material, working with your hands, and discovering how time and fire transform each piece.

Sebastián & Gabriela · Founders, Umbral
Umbral was born from the way we share what inspires us: the crafts, movement, nature, the table, and the encounter with others. We think through, build and accompany every experience ourselves, making sure everyone who takes part feels received from the very first moment.
On every experience we are joined by people who know deeply what they share: artisans, cooks, athletes, makers and other specialists who are part of each gathering.
Sebastián Lecaros
Skimboarder and co-founder of Umbral. His way of seeing is bound up with movement, the coast, and learning by doing. He takes part in planning and building every gathering, above all where sport, logistics and exploration are concerned.
Gabriela Campos
Ceramicist and co-founder of Umbral. She thinks each experience through from the details, the materials, the table, the spaces, and the way we receive people. She is behind the creative direction and the building of every gathering.

The makers, cooks and guides whose places you visit. We would rather you heard about them from the guests who met them.
“I came for a souvenir and left with a bowl that is genuinely bad and genuinely mine. Rosa never once took my hands off the clay to fix it.”
“Diego had us reading the water before we ever touched a board. Three days later I could tell which wave was mine, and which ones were not.”
“Rosa taught my hands and Gabriela fed us both. I have been to workshops before; I had never been looked after like that.”
“Elba let a whole hour pass without correcting me. When she finally did it was one word, and I have not forgotten it.”
Workshops, kitchens, growers and guides across Chile. Every experience is built with the people who already live it.
